What Is Inflammation?

What is inflammation? Inflammation is a process of tissue response in the body. Inflammation is our immediate response to disease. Acute inflammation is a necessary mechanism to fight and defend the body. The problem with inflammation is when it doesn’t stop, -chronic inflammation.
Usually it takes place due to viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, allergies, trauma, medications, toxins, burns and similar. When inflammation takes place, free radicals are flying around the body making havoc. A plentiful supply of antioxidants will keep the body from causing too much damage to itself.
80% of the immune system lies in the gut, so we will focus on gut inflammation. Heavy metals, improperly digested foods, leaky gut syndrome and food allergies cause gut inflammatory responses.
The gut lining is very permeable, it is only lines with one layer of cells. So leaky gut can easily be triggered by exposure to a lot of toxins, parasites, infection and wear and tear.
However, there is more to the picture. Just like pathogenic bacteria create biofilms to protect themselves (think of the plaque that forms around your teeth and gums from bacteria in the mouth), on the same token, friendly bacteria produce a biofilm. This is created by our healthy gut flora. This creates a sealant effect on the gut.
Working on boosting your gut microbiota may go a long way. Eat fermented foods, take different strains of probiotics, take prebiotics and fulvic acids.
Good Luck!
