Do You Want to Live a Long Life?

Do you want to live a long life? Of course, you do, who doesn’t? The problem is that when things get practical, it could be tricky. What should I eat, and what not? The list goes on and on. Let’s take a look at which populations have the longest (and healthiest) lifespan. The national geographic society has a top 5 list for longevity.
Okinawa, Japan has the most centenarians in the world. NG claims that their lifestyle consists of gardening (a form of light exercise with a sense of fulfilment), lots of sun exposure, nutritious food and they only eat to 80% capacity.
Sardinia, Italy also comes in high. They consume a Mediterranean diet with lots of goat milk and cheese, they walk a ton, spend quality leisure time and are mostly framers and shepherds.
Loma Linda, California composes of people who are focused on healthful food choices, they avoid smoking and alcohol, they drink plenty of water, exercise lightly on a regular basis and enjoy volunteering and spending family time.
The other blue zones as their called are in Nicoya, Costa Rica and Ikaria, Greece.
The New York Times studied what these places have in common and they stated that the common denominator between them was that they all,
Valued seniors and respected them,
Tended gardens,
Are very cooperative,
Have healthy lifestyles including dietary choices and exercise routines,
And they all had plenty of social relationships.
Processed food is very rare in these places. There was no special gene found in any of these communities, so the only reason for the longevity is their lifestyle.
With that being said, your take away should be, that you reenforce and incorporate these lifestyle changes. Get sunlight, get more face to face social interaction, volunteer, feel good about yourself, make smart dietary choices, avoid processed foods, do a light form of exercise-not CrossFit or something highly intense. Try to retain a positive outlook and be optimistic.
Now, one of the most harmful things that you can encounter is not white flour are soy products. Not even sugar and snacks. It’s STRESS! That’s right. Stress. Mild forms of stress can actually be beneficial, however too much stress is extremely damaging. It can bring on
Depression, anxiety, heart attacks, high blood pressure and knock your hormones out of whack. Stress also activates inflammatory cytokines. When the immune system is overactivated it can lead to autoimmune disease. Many of the rampant chronic diseases which we face are associated with elevated cytokines. Many studies demonstrate this phenomenon.
So, learn to be calm and happy. It takes work but you can do it, Also, avoid things that cause stress on the body such as unhealthy foods, EMF exposure and similar triggers.
